Story

Hello everyone and thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!

On Thursday 5th May 2011, a good friend of mine (Dave Herbert) and myself are undertaking an epic non-stop 100km walk, crawl, stagger through the night into Friday 6th May. This will take in the region of 20 hours.

We will be walking around Lancashire in a generally circuitous planned route going past the police stations at the locations below.

We will be starting at Lancashire Police HQ at Hutton. From here we will walk to Tarleton, Leyland, Chorley, Darwen, Blackburn, Preston, Lea, Kirkham, back to Lea, Penwortham, then finally finishing back at Police HQ Hutton.

I have attempted this twice before, both times in Biel, Switzerland. In 2005 i dropped out at 90km, however unhappy with this i returned in 2006 to complete the full 100km in just over 20 hrs.

100km is well over two marathons, (2 x marathons plus another 15 km on top) hopefully this will help you imagine how gruelling and demanding on the body this will be. Almost guaranteed to be walking like John Wayne at the end of the day!!!

I have chosen Help For Heroes as my charity. Having served 11 years in the Territorial Army (I joined when i was 17 and 2 months) I completed an operational tour of Afghanistan in 2002, I returned home safe, well and in one piece. To many do not.

This is a particular challenge for myself as i was struck down with swine flu, pnuemonia and other complications during December, resulting in 10 days in hospital and a lenghy recovery period. Knowing that i have the support from family, friends and colleagues will help to keep morale high during this event.

Please take the time to click on the link I've attached to take you to their website to see the work they do.

http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk/

And now for the info on how giving your money through JustGiving works....

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep

Thanks for your support!!

Stuart
